August Schell Brewing Company
Schell’s has been passed down through six generations. Brewmasters remain dedicated to German tradition, most training in the Fatherland. As of 2013, Schell’s has crafted over 100 different varieties of German-inspired brews. They will keep making German Craft Beer until people stop enjoying beer. Which clearly won’t be happening.
Flandrau State Park
Flandrau State Park is a state park of Minnesota, United States, on the Cottonwood River adjacent to the city of New Ulm. Initially called Cottonwood River State Park, it was renamed in 1945 to honor Charles Eugene Flandrau, a leading citizen of early Minnesota who commanded defenses during the Battles of New Ulm in the Dakota War of 1862. The park was originally developed in the 1930s as a job creation project to provide a recreational reservoir.

Glockenspiel
Located downtown, the 45-foot tall Glockenspiel’s bells can be heard chiming throughout the day and playing programmed pieces at noon, 3 PM. and 5 PM. The Glockenspiel houses 37 bells with a total weight of more than two tons. Twelve figurines depicting characters from the city’s history, rotate on a circulating stage during performances. From Thanksgiving to early January, the figurines of a three-piece polka band that stand directly below one of the clock faces are replaced with a nativity scene. It is one of the few free-standing carillons of its size in the world.

Hanska
The City of Hanska is located in South Central Minnesota approximately one hundred miles southwest of the Twin Cities. Incorporated as a village in May 1901, Hanska celebrated a centennial in August of 2001. With all paved streets, a sanitary sewer system, and a municipal water system, Hanska has well-rounded infrastructure. This community has a strong Scandinavian background and celebrates its heritage each spring with a large parade and variety shows around the 17th of May ( Syttende Mai). This coincides with Norway’s commemoration of their Independence Day. Hanska also hosts one or more groups touring from Norway annually. The community is proud of its one of a kind rosemalled water tower.

Madelia
Nestled away in a small county of Minnesota is the community of Madelia. Madelia is a community with a long and rich history, founded in 1857 by Philander Hartshorn. The name Madelia is that of his daughter who died at the young age of 13. Madelia was the first city in Watonwan County and at one time was the county seat. The city originally was built along the banks of the Watonwan River and due to significant flooding the business district was moved to its current location on higher ground.
Madelia Golf Course
The Madelia Golf Course is a challenging 9-hole, par 36 course, nestled along the edges of the Watonwan River and Watona City Park. The course is located just north of the Watonwan County Road 9 exit off of State Highway 60. Enter through the gate to Watona City Park. The golf course’s upgraded irrigation system, installed a few years ago, keeps the course in the lush condition golfers in the region have come to expect. Clubs and pull carts are available for rent and motorized carts for rent or lease.
